Sizing
When choosing your size all you need is three measurements: Upper Bust, Full Bust, and your Waist. We recommend choosing the size or sizes that are closest to your cup size and waist measurement. If those measurements do not correlate to one size, no worries – consider grading between sizes. The instructions and fit guide walk you through grading.
Cup Size Recommendations
This pattern has 11 cup sizes. You can figure out your cup size by subtracting your Upper Bust from your Full Bust, in other words:
Cup Size = Full Bust - Upper Bust
The bust is true to size with some ease on the back and the waist has a 1.5" ease or 4 cm included. There are instructions for adjusting the pattern pieces at the full bust to waist, should you need to tailor the pattern.
Note: Wear no undergarments when measuring your Upper Bust, wear the undergarments you plan on wearing with this top when measuring your full bust, and make sure that the measuring tape is leveled with the ground for the full bust and waist! The upper bust is around your chest just below your armpit.
Choosing Your Size
These are examples of what I would recommend sizing wise for the following 3 models. This does not, however, take into account how you want the garment to fit on you. For example, if you want a more loose fitting top and a 1.5" / 4cm ease is not enough for you, you can size up on the waist measurement. OR if you want a more form fitting, with little to no ease, and a 1.5" ease is too much, you can size down! Regardless, a mockup is highly recommended since all patterns will need some form of adjustment.
Fabric Requirements
This chart shows the fabric requirements needed for the size that you're making rounded up to the next ½ yard. The measurements do not account for fabric shrinkage because all fabrics shrink at different rates. Please take this into account when choosing fabric.
Bias tape is needed for this top and it is NOT included in the fabric requirements. Please take this into account when making your own bias tape.
